Senior Software Engineer (C#, Azure & AI) | Buy-Side Investment Management | London
Senior Software Engineer — High-Ownership Technology Transformation
About the Role Join a highly successful buy-side investment manager undergoing a dynamic technology transformation, prioritising software engineering, data platforms, and AI. You’ll join a small, fast-moving team where engineers drive meaningful impact across finance, operations, and investment—owning projects from design to deployment.
The ideal candidate thrives in a role that bridges software development, cloud innovation, data solutions, and AI-enabled workflows. This is not a maintenance-heavy position; instead, you’ll lead initiatives that modernise business systems, from full-stack applications to data platforms, while collaborating directly with cross-functional teams to solve essential business challenges.
The team already leverages AI-assisted engineering tools daily (e.g. Claude Code, OpenAI Codex), exploring agentic workflows and techniques that accelerate software delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build full-stack applications and internal business platforms using C#/.NET
- Develop RESTful APIs, integrations, and cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure, including scalable deployment architectures
- Build and maintain Azure SQL databases alongside ETL/ELT pipelines to enable data-driven decisions
- Modernise reporting, automation, and operational workflows with efficient, reusable systems
- Partner with investment, finance, and operations teams to deliver tailored, business-aligned technical solutions
- Craft AI-enabled applications, from feature extraction to model integration, while exploring AI tools like LLMs to augment (not replace) traditional software-engineering workflows

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
