Senior Software Engineer - Outside IR35 - Contract
Softwire are hiring a Senior Software Engineer on a contract basis to join an established team working on an exciting project within the Media sector.
What you'll be doing:
- Working 100% remotely as part of an established, distributed development team
- Owning your code end-to-end — designing, developing, and testing to release-candidate quality
- Scoping work and creating well-structured Jira tickets
- Carrying out code reviews and testing your own and others' code
- Contributing to estimation and sprint planning
- Producing clear technical documentation (Confluence experience a plus)
- Engaging daily with clients on calls — friendly, consultative, and collaborative
- Actively participating in scrum ceremonies (stand-ups, retros, and more)
- Supporting and lifting up your wider team

What we're looking for:
- Strong problem-solving skills and a self-starter mindset
- Ability to work independently and deliver in a timely manner
- Comfort working directly with clients in a friendly, consultative way
- Experience with AI and prompt engineering

Tech stack:
- Backend: Java, Maven, Dropwizard
- Frontend: TypeScript, React, Python, AWS, OpenSearch
Nice to have: 🌟 Broader knowledge of AI, and ideally some familiarity with traditional ML techniques (e.g. entity recognition)
£500 - £550 per day, outside IR35
Start ASAP to run initially for 3 months
