Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack – Ruby & React)
📍 Belfast (Hybrid) or Remote (EU)
Our client is a fast-growing scale-up in the sports & community platform space, supporting thousands of clubs and hundreds of thousands of users across the UK, with active expansion into Southern Europe. Engineering is core to their growth, and they're scaling the team accordingly.
⭐ About the Engineering Team
The team is organised into focused squads covering different parts of the product experience, plus a platform squad building the shared backend and payments infrastructure everything else runs on. This role works across the stack, building features end-to-end from the Ruby backend through to React and React Native front ends.
Engineers come from a variety of different backgrounds. As long as you enjoy learning new things, they'd love to talk to you, there are no formal qualification or degree requirements for any engineering role here.

🔑 Your day-to-day
- Own the design and delivery of full-stack features end-to-end, from backend API through to the user-facing experience
- Build and maintain a Ruby on Rails backend alongside React (web) and React Native (mobile) front ends
- Integrate AI capabilities into the product to improve the experience for end users
- Show strong design judgement on ambiguous problems, and know when a simple solution beats a clever one
- Bring a tenacious, get-stuck-in attitude to solving problems across the stack
🤩 You should apply if
- You have strong, hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails
- You're confident working across React and/or React Native front ends
- You have genuine, applied experience integrating AI into products, not just tinkering with APIs
- You've stayed at your last couple of roles for 2+ years and built real depth there
- You have a tenacious attitude and enjoy owning problems end-to-end
- You have a product mindset: you're comfortable critiquing designs and understanding user journeys to help land on the best solution
