Senior Software Engineer (Go) - Energy Trading & Renewable Storage - Up to £95k - Hybrid

Lead Energy Storage & Trading Systems Engineer

About the Role

Work at the intersection of trading, battery storage, and renewable energy.

In this role, you’ll tackle major challenges in energy storage, modelling the performance of grid-scale battery behaviour and supporting Energy Traders in decision-making—when to discharge or convert battery-based energy for grid optimisation.

While this is an engineering role first, it offers cross-disciplinary opportunities, including:

  • System design
  • Mentoring junior engineers
  • High-level architectural decisions
  • End-to-end project leadership

This isn’t a specialist role—you’ll need a Senior Engineer mindset, seeing beyond your immediate task to understand complex microservices interactions.

Success here requires: ✔ A hands-on, curious approach to problem-solving ✔ Comfort with ambiguity and a willingness to explore broader impacts ✔ Adaptability to address issues outside your core focus

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
