Senior Software Engineer
The Opportunity
Join a leading digital bank that is transforming the way millions of customers manage their finances. We're looking for a talented Senior Backend Engineer to help build and scale the distributed systems that power critical financial products used every day.
This is a high-impact role where you'll take ownership of backend services from design and development through to deployment and production support. You'll work on highly scalable systems processing thousands of transactions daily, contributing to architectural decisions that directly influence the customer experience.
What You'll Be Doing
- Design, build, and scale high-performance backend services using Java and/or Kotlin.
- Own services throughout their lifecycle, including deployment, monitoring, incident management, and reliability improvements.
- Contribute to system architecture, technical strategy, and engineering best practices.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to deliver customer-focused solutions.
- Build and maintain scalable, resilient distributed systems.
- Leverage AI-powered tools (such as Claude and similar technologies) as part of your daily engineering workflow to improve productivity, code quality, and delivery.

What We're Looking For
- Strong commercial experience developing backend applications using Java and/or Kotlin. NET experience will also be considered.
- Proven experience building and operating scalable, distributed systems in production environments.
- Solid understanding of system design, performance optimisation, and software architecture principles.
- Experience owning services in production, including deployments, monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident response.
- A proactive, ownership-driven approach with the ability to work autonomously.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in cross-functional teams.
