About the Role

We’re seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our high-performing engineering team, delivering scalable, robust software tailored to our customer needs. In this role, you’ll:

  • Design, build, and reduce technical debt while shaping engineering best practices
  • Leads solutions from conception to delivery, balancing technical excellence with business goals
  • Mentor and coach peers to foster a culture of collaboration and growth
  • Champion security, usability/accessibility, and scalable architectures

Key Responsibilities

  • Build & Scale: Develop clean, maintainable features and resolve end-to-end challenges, evaluating trade-offs for optimal customer outcomes.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure solutions align with engineering standards, security practices, and business requirements.
  • Technical Debt: Drive strategies to maintain system resilience, performance, and reliability.
  • Testing & Validation: Define and enforce testing strategies (including TDD) prioritising security, usability, and defect prevention.
  • Code Reviews: Critique and improve code quality, focusing on performance, accessibility, and security.
  • Guide Teams: Coach engineers on agile practices, collaboration, and upskilling, while promoting technical ownership and adaptability.
  • Innovation: Research emerging technologies and optimise solutions—balancing innovation with fairness and usability for all stakeholders.

What We’re Looking For

Core Technical Skills:

  • 10+ years’ experience in building/managing production-grade backend systems using either:
    • Java/JVM (Java 17+/Kotlin) + Spring Boot microservices
    • Node.js REST architectures
  • JavaScript/TypeScript expertise, including experience with Angular (or related frameworks)
  • Clean code/architecture mastery: Deep knowledge of layered designs (e.g., three-tier, hexagonal, onion architecture) and alignment with scalability/quality goals.
  • Database & Security: Proficiency in SQL schemas and advanced API design; expertise in cloud security best practices, authentication, and rate-limiting.

Soft Skills & Mindset:

  • Independent problem-solving: Proven track record of shipping high-quality features while complex technical challenges.
  • Agile maturity: Experience with CI/CD, Git/Git Flow, and lean testing pyramids (unit, integration, API-level).
  • Mentorship: Commitment to fostering environments where collaboration thrives; track record of making informed decisions and taking ownership of career growth.
  • Communication: Articulate in English; skilled at facilitating technical debates and aligning squads toward scalable goals.
