We seek a Senior Machine Learning Platform Engineer to our London (hybrid) team to build our vision for an advanced ML platform—a core infrastructure that enables engineers and data scientists to deploy models efficiently at scale.
About the Role
You’ll join the Machine Learning Platform team, focusing on tooling and best practices to accelerate ML at Deliveroo. Your work will ensure Deliveroo’s critical business decisions are made faster and more reliably, from real-time logistics optimisation to robust infrastructure management.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and Architect: Lead the creation of Deliveroo’s centralised machine learning platform that supports mission-critical ML pipelines.
- Build ML Infrastructure: Develop and scale training pipelines, model deployment systems, feature stores, and serving infrastructure using Metaflow, Kubernetes (EKS) and Go.
- Enable Collaboration: Partner with Product and Platform teams to define standardised tooling for MLOps best practices.
- Build Tooling & Best Practices: Create reusable libraries and frameworks to democratise ML workloads across the engineering organisation.
- Automate Operations: Operationalise ML services, introducing self-healing systems and documenting processes for repeatability.
- Solve Impactful Challenges: Contribute to Leonardo (Deliveroo’s global tech strategy) by building distributed systems and event-based pipelines with Kafka.

** Must-Have Requirements**
You’ll thrive if you bring deep hands-on expertise in:
- Programming languages: Python (core) & Go or demonstrated ability to ramp into a new backend language.
- ML Modelling: Experience with TensorFlow, Scikit-Learn, or PyTorch in production settings.
- Infrastructure as Code: Proficiency in Terraform and experience orchestrating workloads on AWS.
- Containerisation: Kubernetes (EKS/ECS) and serverless architecture (AWS Lambda) deployment.
- Event Streaming: Distributed data processing with Kafka.
- Collaboration: Translate technical requirements from PMs and Data Scientists into scalable solutions.
** Nice-to-Have**
- Curiosity for emerging ML platform practices and LLMs.
- Contributions to open-source in Python or Go ML tooling.
