Salary
- Software Engineer: £50,000–£60,000
- Senior Software Engineer: £70,000–£80,000

About the Role
This is a non-profit organisation at the heart of global environmental impact measurement, powering an independent system used by thousands of companies, cities, and regions to disclose performance in climate, water, and nature. Their data directly informs lending and investment decisions from institutions managing vast global assets.
The Software Engineering team builds and maintains a critical internal platform, the Scoring system that converts disclosure data into the metrics underlying all downstream impact assessments.
The existing stack is:
- Front-end: React, TypeScript
- Back-end: Node.js, Python
- Infrastructure: Microsoft Azure (with willingness to onboard AWS/GCP talent)
- Working environment: AI/ML-driven enhancements (LLMs, text-based models)正已 eroding where data analysis meets automation.
Key challenges:
- Production-grade Python depth (core competitive advantage for Senior role; strong *beyond setup proficiency for Senior)
- Internal tooling only—no customer-facing operations.
- Regulated environment with strict data security and governance.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
