Our client is an innovative engineering business developing next-generation electric vehicle technology. As they continue to grow, they are looking to appoint a Senior / Principal Software Engineer to play a key role in the development of embedded software for advanced vehicle systems.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology within a collaborative, fast-paced environment where you'll have genuine influence over product development and technical direction.
The Role
You will develop production-ready embedded application software for advanced electric vehicle systems, taking ownership of software from concept through to validation and production.
Working closely with systems, controls, electronics and mechanical engineers, you'll deliver software that enables vehicle functionality, optimises performance and supports the successful launch of innovative products.

Responsibilities
- Develop embedded application software for advanced electric vehicle systems.
- Design and implement control algorithms using Embedded C and MATLAB/Simulink.
- Develop software for vehicle, powertrain, battery and thermal management applications.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to define software architecture and system behaviour.
- Support software integration, commissioning, calibration and vehicle testing.
- Participate in requirements capture, software design, implementation, verification and validation throughout the full development lifecycle.
- Support software quality, functional safety and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Mentor and support junior engineers where appropriate.

Requirements
- Degree qualified in Software Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, Automotive Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven experience developing embedded software within automotive or electric vehicle environments.
- Strong Embedded C programming skills.
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink and Model-Based Design.
- Experience delivering production application software for automotive ECUs.
- Good understanding of CAN and automotive communication protocols.
- Experience with software integration, debugging and validation using MIL, SIL and HIL.
- Knowledge of ISO 26262 and Automotive SPICE is desirable.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
