About Data Hatch
Data Hatch is an agentic AI company building production AI systems for regulated industries, including healthcare, insurance, and financial services. We are a Databricks and Microsoft partner, and we work with enterprise clients who need AI that actually ships: governed, auditable, and reliable enough to run in environments where mistakes carry real consequences.
We are a young, fast-moving company operating across London, Shanghai, and Italy. You will work directly with the founder and a small senior team, with real ownership over what you build.
The Role
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to design and deliver agentic AI systems end to end, from data platform through to production application. This is a hands-on role for someone who is comfortable owning ambiguity: you will scope solutions with clients, architect them, build them, and stand behind them in production.
What You Will Do
- Design and build production-grade AI and agentic systems for enterprise clients in regulated sectors
- Develop data and ML pipelines on Databricks and Azure, including Unity Catalog governance, orchestration, and deployment
- Build robust backend services and APIs that integrate LLMs, retrieval systems, and agent frameworks into client environments
- Own delivery quality: testing, observability, evaluation of AI outputs, and documentation appropriate for regulated clients
- Work directly with client stakeholders to scope requirements and translate them into technical designs
- Contribute to internal products and accelerators that we reuse across engagements
- Mentor mid-level engineers and contractors, and help set engineering standards as the team grows

What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years shipping production systems in Python
- Hands-on experience building with LLMs: prompt design, RAG, agent orchestration, evaluation, and guardrails
- Strong data engineering fundamentals: SQL, distributed data processing, pipeline orchestration
- Experience with Databricks (or strong Spark experience and willingness to certify) and at least one major cloud, ideally Azure
- Solid engineering practices: version control, CI/CD, testing, code review, infrastructure as code
- Ability to communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders and represent technical work to enterprise clients
- Comfort in a environment where priorities shift and you are trusted to figure things out

Nice to Have
- Experience delivering in regulated industries (healthcare, insurance, financial services) and familiarity with the compliance constraints that come with them
- Databricks or Microsoft certifications
- Experience with agent frameworks (LangGraph, Claude Agent SDK, Semantic Kernel, or similar)
- Frontend skills (React or similar) for building client-facing tools and demos
- Consulting or client-facing delivery background
