The Role
We’re seeking a Senior Engineer to develop, enhance, and maintain our large-scale real-time communications platform, with a focus on C++ services, networking, and system reliability. Occasional in-office visits (currently Coimbra, with future offices in Aveiro and Porto) are required for collaboration.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain C++ (C++17+) services
- Implement and troubleshoot networking and real-time communication flows
- Debug and resolve complex issues (core dumps, concurrency, performance bottlenecks)
- Work within and improve a large, established codebase
- Collaborate with QA and product teams to identify edge cases and behaviour issues
- Participate in code reviews to uphold engineering standards
- Contribute effectively under Agile processes (Scrum/Jira workflows)
Required Qualifications
- Proficient in C++17+ and STL (we’re not settling for lesser)
- Strong grasp of networking fundamentals (TCP/UDP, sockets, protocols)
- Hands-on experience with multithreading/concurrency
- Advanced debugging skills (GDB, core dumps, memory leaks, race conditions)
- Extensive Linux development experience
- Ability to navigate and evolve complex system architectures (legacy or modern)
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools like Jira/Atlassian

Bonus Skills (but not required)
- VoIP or PBX experience (call routing, hunt groups, IVR, call park/pickup)
- VoIP protocols: SIP, RTP/RTCP, SDP, WebRTC
- boost.Asio proficiency for concise async networking code
- Mastery of GitHub PR workflows and collaborative reviews
- Experience with AI-assisted development (e.g., advanced code analysis/discovery)
- Kubernetes or containerized development workflows
- Work with FreeSWITCH or similar open-source telephony solutions
- Network analysis tools: Wireshark, tcpdump
- Skills in performance profiling & optimisation
