The Role
This full-time Senior Software Engineer position is based in Warwick, UK, and focuses on designing, building, and maintaining high-quality software for energy and utility Operations Technology (OT) systems.
As the role demands technical leadership, you’ll shape architectures, mentor teams, and bridge business needs with technical execution. Your work will directly impact reliability, efficiency, and safety in critical infrastructure sectors.
Key Responsibilities

Software Architecture & Development
- Design and implement scalable microservices, APIs, and data pipelines for real-time energy and utility operations.
- Lead technical decision-making, ensuring systems are scalable, performant, and future-proof.
- Collaborate with product teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.

Code Quality & Best Practices
- Champion clean code standards, secure coding practices, and regulatory compliance (e.g., data protection, industry-specific standards).
- Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and enforce best practices in development.

Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner with Product, Data, and DevOps teams to align software delivery with operational goals.
- Engage with product managers, system architects, and operations teams to refine system design.

Technical Excellence
- Ensure compliance with security and regulatory frameworks in energy data systems.
- Optimise systems for low latency, high availability, and fault tolerance.
Technical Requirements
Essential
- 10+ years of industrial software engineering experience, with expertise in one or more mainstream languages (e.g., Java, Kotlin, C#, Python).
- Strong background in API design (REST/GraphQL) and building scalable, distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Deep knowledge of software architecture patterns, data modeling, and system reliability.
- Proficiency in:
- CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).
- Test automation (unit, integration, performance testing).
- Monitoring & observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack).
