About The Role

As a Senior Software Developer at Bet365, you will play a critical role in building and maintaining the core infrastructure and tools that enable our development teams to deliver high-quality software efficiently and reliably. You will be part of the developer platform team within the wider Platform Engineering department, tasked with delivering solutions that streamline and improve internal development processes through automation, tooling, and enhanced visibility. Your work will have a direct impact on the efficiency, scalability, and robustness of Bet365’s technological ecosystem.

The role involves working primarily with Golang, Python, Typescript, and React, developing applications across both on-premise and cloud environments. You will lead project deliveries, mentor junior team members, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our automation solutions. This position offers extensive opportunities for professional development, including exposure to advanced tools such as Splunk, New Relic, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The role is eligible for our hybrid working policy, allowing flexibility to work from home in accordance with company guidelines.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess proven experience in developing low latency, highly available, and scalable solutions, especially within high-volume transaction environments. You should have prior experience in a senior role with a demonstrated ability to mentor and support junior developers. A solid understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and familiarity with relevant tools is essential. Proficiency in programming and scripting languages such as Golang, Python, and Typescript is required, along with knowledge of network and security technologies.

Additional qualifications include a strong foundation in networking principles like TCP/IP, routing, and switching, as well as experience with content delivery and cloud-based services. Excellent problem-solving skills, autonomy, and proactive communication are critical to success. Experience working within a Linux-centric environment and familiarity with change and version control systems will be highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Building, nurturing, and enhancing our automation solutions and applications, ensuring they are scalable, efficient, and maintainable.
  • Mentoring junior team members, fostering their growth and development while promoting best coding practices across the team.
  • Delivering clean, maintainable, and elegant code.
  • Identifying opportunities for technological and process improvements, contributing insights to develop innovative and effective solutions to complex challenges.
  • Managing the entire lifecycle of automation projects—from conception through deployment and operational support—while adhering to best practices and quality standards.
  • Conducting pre-release and post-release testing.
  • Proactively monitoring automation services to identify and mitigate issues.
  • Supporting the development and maintenance of platforms that enable self-service capabilities for internal customers.
  • Staying updated with emerging technologies and proposing initiatives to enhance automation capabilities.
  • Maintaining and enforcing coding standards within the automation space.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
