Senior Software Engineer - Video Platform
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer - Video Platform based in United Kingdom.
Join an innovative engineering team building the technology that powers advanced video creation and rendering across web and native platforms. In this role, you'll design high-performance systems that enable real-time video processing, graphics rendering, and seamless cross-platform experiences. Working at the intersection of systems programming, multimedia, and modern web technologies, you'll solve complex technical challenges while collaborating with talented engineers who value craftsmanship, performance, and maintainable code. Your work will directly influence the scalability, reliability, and capabilities of a cutting-edge video platform used in demanding production environments. Accountabilities
- Design, develop, and optimize video processing pipelines for encoding, decoding, transcoding, and rendering across multiple platforms.
- Build and enhance cross-platform rendering infrastructure using modern graphics technologies and GPU-accelerated frameworks.
- Develop and maintain WebAssembly-based solutions, optimizing performance, memory usage, and browser execution.
- Integrate native video and rendering capabilities with web and mobile applications, including iOS platform support.
- Improve system performance, scalability, observability, and reliability through profiling, monitoring, and continuous optimization.
- Collaborate closely with frontend, editor, and platform engineers to deliver seamless user experiences.
- Troubleshoot complex multimedia, rendering, and cross-platform integration challenges while maintaining high engineering standards.
- Contribute to architectural decisions, code reviews, technical documentation, and engineering best practices.

Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency in C or C++, with additional expertise in TypeScript and/or Swift.
- Experience building video processing solutions using technologies such as FFmpeg, GStreamer, libav, or similar frameworks.
- Strong understanding of graphics rendering technologies including Skia, WebGPU, Metal, WebGL, OpenGL, or related platforms.
- Experience with WebAssembly, Emscripten, WebCodecs, or other cross-platform compilation technologies.
- Knowledge of modern video codecs and container formats such as H.264, H.265, VP9, AV1, and related media standards.
- Experience integrating native code with web or mobile platforms and optimizing performance in GPU-accelerated or memory-constrained environments.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in a distributed engineering team.
- Interest in leveraging AI-assisted development tools responsibly to improve engineering productivity.
