ARCA is delighted to be partnering with a leading technology business operating within the automotive performance and vehicle software sector.
Due to continued growth and investment in their engineering capability, we are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a highly specialised team developing advanced software solutions for complex embedded vehicle systems.
This is an opportunity to work on challenging engineering problems at the intersection of embedded software, diagnostics, security research and vehicle technology, helping deliver innovative products used globally within a highly technical market.
The Role
As a Senior Vehicle Software Engineer, you will play a key role in the analysis, development and validation of software solutions for modern vehicle control systems. Working within a multi-disciplinary engineering team, you'll contribute to the development of new features, tooling and workflows that support the next generation of connected automotive technologies.
This position requires a hands-on engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, investigating undocumented systems and developing robust, production-ready engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities
- Research, analyse and develop software solutions for embedded automotive systems.
- Investigate vehicle communication protocols, diagnostic systems and software architectures.
- Develop internal engineering tools and automation to improve analysis, testing and deployment activities.
- Support product development through technical investigation, validation and documentation.
- Contribute to project planning, technical reviews and engineering decision-making.
- Produce clear technical documentation, test evidence and release information.
- Collaborate closely with software, hardware and product teams.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership where required.
About You
We are looking for engineers who combine strong software development capability with a genuine interest in embedded systems and vehicle technology. You are likely to have experience in:
- Embedded software or firmware development.
- Low-level software analysis and debugging.
- Automotive electronics, control systems or connected vehicle technologies.
- Software development using C/C++ and Python.
- Hardware/software integration and troubleshooting.
- Technical investigation within complex or undocumented environments.
- Structured engineering and product development processes.

Desirable Experience
- Automotive software, diagnostics or vehicle systems experience.
- Cybersecurity, embedded security or software analysis exposure.
- Development of engineering tools, automation frameworks or test systems.
- Experience working within highly regulated or technically complex industries.
