Senior.NET Software Engineer (Agentic AI / .NET)
Location: London
Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 DOE
Industry: Insurance
The Opportunity
I'm currently working with an established UK insurance broker that has been at the forefront of its market for over 17 years. Following recent investment to support expansion into new insurance markets, they're looking to hire a Senior.NET Software Engineer to play a key role in shaping the future of their engineering function.
This is far more than a traditional senior developer position. As one of the company's senior engineers, you'll help drive the adoption of test-driven development (TDD) across the engineering team while leading the implementation of an innovative agentic AI development workflow. The vision is to combine robust testing, clear engineering standards and AI-powered coding agents to improve software quality, accelerate delivery and modernise the development lifecycle.
Working closely with teams across both the UK and India, you'll remain hands-on with development while influencing engineering best practices, mentoring colleagues and helping build the technical foundations that will support the company's continued growth.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about software craftsmanship, modern engineering practices, AI-assisted development and building high-quality, scalable applications within a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the adoption of test-driven development (TDD) and promote best practices for unit and integration testing across the engineering team.
- Lead the implementation of an agentic AI development workflow, integrating AI coding agents into existing development and CI/CD processes.
- Design, develop and maintain scalable .NET applications, APIs and background services.
- Analyse existing applications to identify technical improvements, reduce risk and enhance maintainability.
- Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to translate requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Develop and deploy cloud-based solutions within AWS, following best practices for security, scalability and reliability.
- Write clean, maintainable and well-documented code with comprehensive automated test coverage.
- Maintain and improve monitoring, alerting and production support capabilities.
- Mentor developers and champion engineering excellence across the wider development team.
- Contribute to the ongoing evolution of software architecture, development standards and delivery processes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
