Senior Software Engineer
Senior Software Engineer | Commodities Trading | London | £150k–£250k + Bonus
RJC is currently partnering with a leading global investment firm that's expanding its Front Office Commodities Technology team in London. Working closely with traders, portfolio managers and quantitative teams, they are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help build and enhance the platforms that power risk, PnL and trading workflows across a global commodities business.
The Role
The role requires an experienced engineer with a strong background in Python development, production-grade trading systems, and front-office technology. You’ll be responsible for:
- Designing scalable solutions
- Partnering directly with business users
- Delivering high-performance software in a fast-paced trading environment

Key Responsibilities
You'll be working on:
- Building and enhancing Risk and PnL platforms used by trading teams
- Developing scalable Python services and data-driven applications
- Improving performance, reliability and operational resilience of production systems
- Partnering directly with traders and portfolio managers to deliver business-critical solutions
- Automating workflows and contributing to the evolution of a modern front-office technology stack
Requirements
The ideal Senior Software Engineer will have:
- 5+ years’ commercial software engineering experience
- Strong Python development skills
- Experience building or supporting Risk & P&L systems
- Previous experience in a:
- Trading
- Hedge fund
- Commodities
- Investment banking environment
- Strong understanding of:
- Market data
- Trading workflows
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely with front-office users
- Experience with time-series or financial data
