Duration: Funded until 31st December 2027.

Warwick Clinical Trials Unit (Warwick CTU) is a dynamic academic unit undertaking clinical trials addressing real issues of local, national and international importance. Randomised controlled trials are developed in selective, focused areas that are consistent with the research strategy of Warwick Medical School. Current areas of research include musculoskeletal rehabilitation, orthopaedics, emergency care, critical care and cancer.

About You

Warwick Clinical Trials Unit (WCTU) is seeking an experienced Senior Quality Assurance (QA) Software Engineer to play a leading role within our busy Programming Team. This is the principal QA position in the team, offering the opportunity to shape and drive quality standards across a diverse portfolio of in-house developed clinical trial systems. You will be instrumental in ensuring the reliability, performance, and regulatory compliance of software that supports cutting-edge health research.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the implementation of the team’s QA strategy, designing and executing both manual and automated testing across multiple products.
  • Own and evolve the QA infrastructure, supporting modern CI/CD practices and integrating automated testing throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Work within an agile environment, contributing to sprint planning and ensuring testing is effectively aligned with frequent, high-quality releases.
  • Work closely with developers, application support analysts, and trial teams to establish robust QA practices across the development lifecycle, including coordinating and supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure systems are thoroughly validated.
  • Support and enhance the data quality testing infrastructure, ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and traceability of clinical trial data.
  • Promote a culture of software quality, refining QA processes and standards in line with SOPs and applicable regulatory requirements, while championing recognised testing best practices and modern security principles.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Strong expertise across a broad range of testing practices, including automation, and a solid understanding of QA methodologies and DevOps principles.
  • Confidence working in agile teams, comfort with modern tooling and frameworks, and the ability to influence best practice across the team.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

This role offers the opportunity to lead and shape software QA practices within a Programming Team delivering a diverse range of research software. In return, we offer an excellent range of benefits, including an attractive pension scheme, 30 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, access to a wide range of savings on products and services such as Warwick Sport and Warwick Arts Centre, and excellent learning and development opportunities.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
