About This Role

As a Senior Solutions Architect within GitLab’s Northern Europe team, you’ll serve as a trusted technical advisor to prospects and customers, advising them on how GitLab’s DevSecOps platform meets both technical and business objectives across the entire software development lifecycle. Your role will involve guiding organizations through their digital transformation journeys—from initial planning to post-implementation monitoring—by leveraging your technical expertise, cloud knowledge, modern software development practices, and deep customer empathy.

Reporting to the regional Solutions Architect Manager, you’ll collaborate closely with Account Executives and cross-functional teams to own technical evaluations (including proofs of value and workshops), design solution architectures, and advocate for customer needs internally. Your focus will be on:

  • Driving successful platform adoption
  • Influencing revenue growth through solution-centric selling
  • Building long-term, trust-based relationships that highlight GitLab’s strength in an AI-driven DevSecOps landscape

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical discovery and validation to demonstrate how GitLab’s AI-powered DevSecOps platform aligns with customers’ technical and business needs across the full software lifecycle.
  • Drive technical evaluations as the directly responsible individual, including:
    • Solution design
    • Ownership of POC (proof of concept)/POV (proof of value) initiatives
    • Workshop facilitation
    • Technical considerations for tenders, audits, and value stream assessments
  • Collaborate with Account Executives and regional sales teams across Northern EU to shape and execute account strategies for new customer acquisition and expansion.
  • Build and foster relationships with:
    • Technical practitioners (e.g., engineers, developers)
    • Business leaders (e.g., executives, PMO teams)
    • Advocate for GitLab-driven transformation and guide customers to becoming GitLab advocates.
  • Advisor role: Challenge customers’ current practices to optimize ROI, focused on:
    • Modern software delivery
    • Continuous Integration (CI) & Continuous Deployment (CD)
    • Security practices
    • Cloud adoption
  • Customer voice within GitLab:
    • Share feedback, use cases, and competitive insights with Product Management, Engineering, Sales, and Marketing to inform roadmaps and positioning.
  • Technical expertise and thought leadership:
    • Expand knowledge in GitLab, DevSecOps, AI, and cloud technologies.
    • Create reusable examples, best practices, and technical content for customers and partners.
  • Professional growth:
    • Upskill through learning, mentorship, and knowledge-sharing to elevate the impact of the Solutions Architect team.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in:
    • Technical pre-sales, consulting, or similar roles.
    • Guiding customers through solution design, evaluation, and adoption.
  • Proven expertise in the end-to-end software development lifecycle, including:
    • Modern DevSecOps practices
    • CI/CD workflows
  • Hands-on experience:
    • GitLab (or similar platform) for source control, CI/CD, collaboration.
    • Ability to map platform capabilities to customer workflows and use cases.
  • Cloud expertise:
    • Deep understanding of cloud computing concepts (e.g., deployment, security, DevOps).
    • Capability to Consult with technical teams on cloud adoption strategies.
  • Capability to:
    • Lead proofs of concept (POCs)/proofs of value (POVs).
    • Contribute to tenders/audits.
    • Design and run workshops or value stream assessments.
  • Communication and presentation skills:
    • Technical storytelling for:
      • Practitioners (developers, engineers)
      • Business/technical decision-makers
  • Relationship-building:
    • Listen with empathy and act as a customer advocate inside GitLab (connecting teams like Product, Engineering, Sales, and Marketing).
  • Commitment to continuous professional development:
    • Explore new technologies
    • Deepen GitLab expertise
    • Apply insights from past roles across fields.

About The Team

As part of GitLab’s Sales organization, our Solutions Architect team serves as the technical counterpart to Account Executives, focusing on opportunities across Northern EU under the guidance of a regional Solutions Architect Manager. Their mission is to help customers unlock GitLab’s AI-powered DevSecOps value by:

  • Advising on platform architecture.
  • Running technical evaluations (e.g., proofs of value).
  • Guiding digital transformation journeys.

Collaboration

The team works closely with:

  • Sales (aside from local partners, regional AE activities)
  • Product Management
  • Engineering
  • Marketing
