Senior Solutions Architect (GitLab, Northern Europe)

About the Role

As a Senior Solutions Architect in GitLab’s Northern Europe team, you’ll act as a trusted advisor to prospects and customers, helping them align GitLab’s DevSecOps platform with their technical and business needs across the full software development lifecycle. Through deep technical expertise, cloud understanding, and customer empathy, you’ll guide organisations through digital transformation—from strategy to execution. Reporting to a regional Solutions Architect Manager and collaborating with Account Executives and cross-functional teams, you’ll own technical evaluations (including proof-of-value (PoV) initiatives and workshops), influence solution design, and advocate for customer needs in Product Management.

Key priorities include driving platform adoption, contributing to revenue growth via solution selling, and building long-term, trust-based relationships that highlight GitLab’s leadership in AI-driven DevSecOps.

  • Technical Discovery & Validation: Identify how GitLab’s AI-powered DevSecOps platform meets customer needs—balancing technical requirements and business strategy.

  • Technical Evaluations: Lead PoVs, proof-of-concepts (POCs), tender responses, audit components, and value stream assessments.

  • Account Strategy Execution: Partner with Account Executives and regional teams to develop and implement strategies for customer acquisition and expansion.

  • Relationship Building: Strengthen ties with technical stakeholders and executives, positioning GitLab as the vehicle for transformation and fostering customer advocacy.

  • Architecture Advisory: Challenge and refine existing development and cloud practices, highlighting how GitLab improves ROI and operational success.

  • Customer Advocacy: Share customer feedback, use cases, competitive insights, and pain points with Product Management, Engineering, Sales, and Marketing to shape roadmaps and positioning.

  • Knowledge Sharing: Maintain GitLab expertise by creating technical collateral(e.g. POCs, workshops, documentation) and contributing reusable examples.

  • Continuous Growth: Commit to professional development through mentorship, upskilling, and knowledge transfer.


Requirements

Experience and Expertise

  • 8+ years of experience in pre-sales, consulting, or similar technical roles, handling customer strategy, solution design, and technology evaluation.
  • Proficiency in end-to-end software development lifecycle, including DevSecOps, CI/CD, and modern development workflows.
  • Hands-on experience with GitLab or comparable platforms (source control, CI/CD, collaboration), mapping capabilities to customer challenges.
  • Deep knowledge of cloud computing (deployment, security, and operational models) to advise teams effectively.
  • Ability to design, lead, and validate technical initiatives (POCs, PoVs, audits, assessments) and communicate diverse stakeholder needs.

  • Relationship-building: Act as a voice of the customer with empathy, fostering partnership across internal teams.

About the Team

As part of GitLab’s Sales organization, our Solutions Architecture team reports into a regional Solutions Architect Manager and focuses on Northern Europe opportunities. We serve as the technical counterpart to Account Executives, responsible for:

  • Customer Collaboration: Guiding organizations through AI-powered DevSecOps transformations—from technical assessments to long-term adoption strategies.
  • Solution Development: Owning PoVs, POCs, workshops, and architectural design; creating capture plans for-targeted awards.
  • Cross-Functional Impact: Aligning with Sales, Product Management, Engineering, and Marketing to refine positioning, roadmaps, and customer alignment.
