Senior Solutions Architect
Principal Architect – Global SaaS Technology Revolution
About the Company
A Global SaaS Company at the forefront of education technology, with millions of users worldwide, is transforming its platform and product model, shifting towards AI-enabled, platform-centric solutions.
As part of this evolution, they are hiring a Principal Architect to provide senior technical leadership across a multi-region, complex environment.
The Opportunity
Senior Executive Role reporting directly to the Global VP of Technology and Operations, responsible for shaping long-term technology strategy while ensuring scalability, consistency, and strategic alignment.
Key focus areas:
- Technical governance & architecture strategy (not delivery-oriented)
- Cross-functional alignment across engineering teams
- Bridging UK and US operations to improve cohesion and best practices
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Governance
- Define and evolve architecture principles, standards, and governance across the organisation
- Lead architecture forums and decision-making processes
- Drive consistency in tooling, design patterns, and integrations
- Oversee security, scalability, resilience, and observability governance
- Collaborate on high-impact architecture decisions, risks, and trade-offs
- Encourage pragmatic governance that enhances—rather than impedes—delivery

Technology Strategy & Roadmap
- Own and maintain technical roadmaps aligned with business and product strategy
- Identify AI adoption opportunities, platform scaling, and modernisation needs
- Assess technical debt and platform risks, prioritising critical improvements
- Evaluate emerging technologies and guide adoption decisions
- Balance global platform direction with regional requirements
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Engage SMEs across Engineering, Infrastructure, Security, Data, QA, and Product
- Facilitate technical discussions to drive clear, aligned decisions
- Guide complex or high-impact initiatives
- Promote reuse, standardisation, and platform-centric thinking
Global Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as a technology bridge between UK and US teams
- Ensure regional needs are represented in global platform decisions
- Build relationships with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Effectively communicate technical direction, risks, and trade-offs (to all levels)
Continuous Improvement
- Champion engineering quality and best practices
- Contribute to evolving standards, governance, and ways of working
- Support AI-driven development and innovation
- Mentor senior engineers and technical leaders
Requirements
- Proven senior leadership in architecture or technical direction within SaaS or product-led organisations
- Strong software engineering, distributed systems, API, and cloud-native architecture expertise
- Experience defining and leading architecture governance across multiple teams/multi-region environments
- Ability to influence technical decisions without direct management authority
- Track record of aligning technology with business outcomes
- Clear communication skills to translate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders
- Facilitation expertise to drive alignment in diverse engineering teams
- Knowledge of security, scalability, resilience, and operational excellence
- Interest/exposure to AI-enabled platform adoption
