About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Solutions Engineer to join our growing Wise Platform team in London.

The Wise Platform team works with top-tier global financial institutions and major tech companies to offer Wise products and services directly to their customers, ensuring seamless integration through our API. By facilitating these integrations, you’ll drive the expansion and improvement of our product offerings—contributing directly to Wise Platform’s increasing capabilities.

This role is focused on growing partnerships, troubleshooting, and enhancing Wise’s technical solutions.


Key Responsibilities

Your work will involve:

  • Technical Consulting & Product Guidance

    • Act as a trusted advisor and intermediary between partners and Wise, leveraging your technical expertise to facilitate the product development and integration journey.
    • Define technical solutions, gather customer requirements, and support the bespoke implementation of integrations for banking partners.
    • Collaborate across internal teams to streamline delivery for partners while navigating ambiguity in real-world business needs.
  • Enhancing Integration for Partners

    • Improve the onboarding experience by developing comprehensive technical documentation, well-defined APIs, SDKs, code samples, and reference implementations.
    • Proactively identify common integration challenges faced by banking partners and address them by improving documentation, tooling, and support.
    • Ensure that annotation standards and code libraries align with partner needs, reducing friction in deployment.
  • Sales & Technical Partnerships

    • Work closely with the pre-sales team to provide expert guidance throughout the sales cycle, conducting technical demonstrations and answering complex partner questions.
    • Shape the final technical capabilities likely to be exposed via the public API, showcasing how partners can integrate with Wise and leverage its full value proposition.
  • Process Efficiency & Automation

    • Optimise and streamline workflows across the Engineering, Design, and Sales teams.
    • Implement automation tools and enhanced tooling to reduce manual effort and accelerate turnaround times.
    • Identify bottlenecks in the integration process and implement solutions to scale delivery.

  • Product Innovation & Development

    • Design and develop new features that expand the functionality of Wise APIs, enabling partners to connect to our systems seamlessly.
    • Encourage innovation within technical stacks while ensuring robustness, consistency, and alignment with company standards.
  • Technical Support & Issue Resolution

    • Responsible for diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues across Wise’s product stack.
    • Provide second-line support to the API support team by investigating challenges, offering workarounds, and coordinating cross-team solutions.
    • Collaborate with customer support teams to resolve complications quickly, maintaining high partner satisfaction.
  • Technical & Partner Leadership

    • Serve as the technical lead for performing and managing mature, complex partnerships.
    • Bridge the gap between Wise’s engineering and partner-facing technical teams, ensuring alignment on technical strategy, solution architectures, and requirements.
    • Facilitate clear channels of communication, reviewing work and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Feedback & Product Improvement

    • Lead feedback loops between partners and internal product teams, gathering insights to inform future improvements.
    • Monitor partner implementation patterns and usage trends, playing an active role in prioritising and implementing solutions for their needs.

Technical Expertise

  • Familiarity with common software design patterns and architectures:

    • Domain-Driven Design (DDD)
    • Event-Driven Architecture (EDA)
    • Microservices
  • Proficiency in:

    • Java (Spring)
    • Kubernetes, Kubernetes-based tools, and service mesh architectures (e.g. SCP, Linkerd)
    • Multi-tech cloud operations (e.g. AWS leveraging serverless, managed databases, containers)
    • APIs, standards, and ecosystems:
      • RESTful APIs, OAuth2, OpenID Connect (OIDC)
      • Specification writing tools (e.g. Swagger/OpenAPI, API Modellog, Dredd)
      • Tooling for deployment (e.g. Helm/experimental Kubernetes)
  • Strong experience with:

    • Relational Databases (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redshift)_)*
    • NoSQL Databases (e.g. MongoDB for structured document storage, Cassandra for high volume analytics)
  • 6+ years of hands-on experience in customer-facing engineering roles, ideally within financial services or similar high regulation domains:

    • Examples: Solution Engineer; IT/Banking/Consultant; Integration Engineer; Solutions Consultant

Communication & Leadership

  • Exceptional interpersonal, persuasion, and negotiation skills—bridging silos.
  • Ability to translate technical jargon for non-experts.
  • Collaboration with far-reaching technical and non-technical stakeholders to deliver projects.
  • Strong ability to manage personal workload, maintain focus across multiple streams, prioritizing well.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range

  • £87,500 - £111,000 per annum, including restricted stock units (RSUs).
