Role Purpose and Key Responsibilities

As Senior Specialist – Commercial Property, you will provide trusted technical leadership across commercial property practice, helping shape the standards, guidance, and professional knowledge that support surveyors globally. You will act as a recognised subject matter expert, working with industry stakeholders, members, and colleagues to ensure RICS remains the leading authority on professional standards and practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, maintenance, and delivery of a portfolio of commercial property guidance, standards, and related professional practice projects.
  • Provide expert professional insight and technical advice on emerging issues, trends, and challenges affecting the commercial property sector.
  • Support the development and maintenance of RICS professional competencies, knowledge frameworks, and learning content within your specialist area.
  • Represent RICS with government, industry, and professional stakeholders, acting as a credible and influential voice on commercial property matters.
  • Deliver market insight and thought leadership that informs guidance development and helps the profession respond to emerging risks and opportunities.
  • Manage and contribute to a portfolio of projects, supporting business planning, stakeholder engagement, and delivery against agreed objectives and budgets.

About You

You are a respected commercial property professional with strong technical expertise and a passion for advancing professional standards. You are comfortable influencing stakeholders, translating complex issues into practical guidance, and representing the profession on important industry matters.

Skills & Experience:

  • Deep knowledge of commercial property practice and a strong commitment to professional excellence and industry standards.
  • Experience delivering outcomes across complex stakeholder environments, balancing competing interests and priorities.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence professional and public audiences.
  • Understanding of emerging trends affecting commercial property, including technology, data, AI, and sustainability.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop practical solutions to complex professional challenges.
  • Excellent project management, stakeholder engagement, and organisational skills, with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving environment.
