About the Role

Are you a highly motivated Occupational Therapist with experience working with children and families? Are you looking for a new opportunity to develop your skills in a supportive and specialist environment?

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Band 7 Occupational Therapist to join Evelina London REACH, our specialist outpatient upper limb rehabilitation service. This nationally and internationally recognised, OT-led service delivers evidence-informed rehabilitation for infants, children and young people (0–18 years) with neurological conditions, including those at risk of movement difficulties following early brain injury.

Responsibilities

  • Work across the Evelina REACH asymmetric and tone management pathways
  • Integrate expertise in upper limb rehabilitation, motor impairments including asymmetry and tone management
  • Provide specialist assessment and management of children and young people with movement difficulties
  • Consider the impact of motor impairment, asymmetry, and tone on functional performance, participation, and achievement of individual goals
  • Deliver rehabilitation in partnership with parents and community therapists
  • Deliver and coordinate rehabilitation programs before and after interventions, including splinting, casting, and activity-based rehabilitation approaches
  • Ensure that interventions are aligned with family set personalised goals to optimise function, participation, and quality of life
  • Work alongside a consultant in paediatric neurodisability focusing on the management of tone and its impact on the functional skills of the young people accessing the service
  • Provide specialist assessment, advice, and intervention using modalities such as bimanual therapy, a hybrid model, task-based goal-directed occupational therapy, splinting, and casting
  • Support children in achieving meaningful goals focused on functional skills and independence in self-care, school work, and leisure/play
  • Delivered in collaboration and partnership with their families and local teams
  • Requires close liaison with partners

About the Team

You will be part of the Paediatric Occupational Therapy Service at Evelina London Children's Hospital, based at St Thomas' Hospital. The team comprises 24 paediatric occupational therapists and two occupational therapy assistants, delivering specialist services across a wide range of clinical areas.
