Senior Specialist Physiotherapist (12 months, Fixed Term)

Salary: £49,387 - £56,515 per annum FTE
Hours: This post is 35 hours per week

An exciting opening has arisen for an enthusiastic and self-motivated specialist physiotherapist with neurological experience to join our team at Daniel Yorath House in Leeds. This post would offer the successful candidate the opportunity to work in a leadership role as well as to be an integral part of an excellent team that provides comprehensive rehabilitation and support to our residents.

About us:

Daniel Yorath House is a Brainkind specialist neurological care centre based in Leeds, providing innovative neuro rehabilitation and person centred support to enable people to thrive after brain injury.

The ideal candidate:

  • Must be a HCPC registered physiotherapist
  • Have neurological, respiratory and management experience at a Senior (Band 7 equivalent) level

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management and leadership of staff within the service and provide support to staff as required
  • Provide on-site leadership for the team and take an active role in service developments through the use of service user participation strategies, peer review, audit, and evaluation of outcome measures
  • Oversee service delivery from referral to discharge to ensure treatment programmes are planned and delivered effectively
  • Maintain an awareness of the caseloads of the team to ensure the most effective and efficient service is provided
  • Be responsible for leading clinical governance activity within the team with regard to clinical risk management and for implementing clinical governance policies, standards and guidelines
  • Ensure a high standard of service, delivered within local and national guidelines and within the resources available. Ensure documentation produced by other members of the team is in line with professional and Brainkind standards
  • Responsible to chair interdisciplinary team meetings and review meetings as appropriate
  • Work with other professionals in managing operational issues of services which cross organisational boundaries
  • Hold responsibility for managing own caseload within an agreed defined clinical area
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate therapy intervention to meet the assessed needs of service users
  • Monitor attendance of mandatory and other required training for members of team
  • Improve own and others research and development skills through participation in audit projects
  • Facilitate the safe and smooth running of the Service, the post holder is expected to maintain a safe working environment, maintain service user confidentiality, and occasionally taking on reasonable additional tasks

About you:

  • Suitable applicants will have a degree/diploma within physiotherapy and be HCPC registered
  • Relevant post-registration training and experience and relevant leadership experience and training in a health/social care setting
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development
  • Proven experience of working in an appropriate service across healthcare settings
  • Experience of working with clients with moderate to advanced neurological disease and disability
  • Demonstrable experience of evidence-based practice, research, audit and outcome measures
  • Highly specialist knowledge and application of neurological therapy assessments and interventions using complex level clinical reasoning. Seating and postural care experience desirable and respiratory competency essential
  • Evidence of managing a team of staff including setting objectives, appraisal, recruitment and disciplinary issues
