Senior Specialist Speech and Language Therapist

Band 7 | Full Time – 37.5 hours per week
Fixed Term / Secondment until March 2027
The Hellingly Centre | Hailsham
£49,387 – £56,515 per annum

Who can apply

We're looking for:

  • HCPC Registered Speech and Language Therapists with:

  • At least four years' post-qualification experience

  • Experience assessing and managing complex communication needs

  • Dysphagia experience or willingness to complete a recognised post-basic qualification

  • Excellent clinical reasoning and multidisciplinary working skills

  • A compassionate, resilient and recovery-focused approach

The role

As a Senior Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, you'll provide highly specialist assessment, diagnosis and intervention for adults with communication and swallowing needs within forensic mental health services.

You'll:

  • Assess and manage complex communication and dysphagia needs
  • Develop personalised intervention plans using advanced clinical reasoning
  • Support recovery through specialist communication strategies
  • Deliver training and clinical supervision to multidisciplinary colleagues
  • Provide expert reports and recommendations where required
  • Work collaboratively with patients, families and partner agencies
  • Support service development and evidence-based practice
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary assessment and care planning

About the service

The Hellingly Centre provides low and medium secure forensic mental health services for adults with complex mental health needs.

Working within a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, you'll help individuals overcome communication barriers, improve engagement in treatment and support their recovery through specialist speech and language therapy interventions.

Based at The Hellingly Centre, Hailsham, with opportunities to work across secure inpatient and community forensic services.
