As an Architectural Specifications Specialist, you’ll play a key role in fulfilling contractual requirements with precision and expertise.


Key Responsibilities

Client and Project Management

  • Compile architectural specification documentation for both internal (AECOM) and external clients, ensuring alignment with project and contractual standards.
  • Develop deep client knowledge and secure repeat commissions through active pipeline tracking.
  • BUILD and MAINTAIN relationships with high-value clients to meet business development goals.

Technical & Compliance Leadership

  • Author detailed and accurate architectural specifications, supporting multiple project phases from design conception to contract execution.
  • Advise clients on design responsibility issues, contractual risks, and procurement routes affecting specification formats.
  • Guarantee specifications deliver cost-efficient, high-performance materials and delineate discipline-specific requirements (coordination with Civils, Structures, and MEP specialists).
  • Ensure compliance with AECOM’s QA/QC and Health & Safety policies.

Innovation & Professional Growth

  • Stay ahead of technical standards, construction methodologies, and innovation in BIM, sustainability, and design delivery.
  • Share innovative practices through mentoring junior colleagues and enforcing a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Requirements

Essential Qualifications & Attributes

✔ Proven expertise in compiling architectural specifications across **at least one of:

  • UK construction standards**
  • Middle East procurement methodologies (desirable)**

✔ Strong technical proficiency:

  • Comprehensively understanding construction methods, standards, and BIM protocols.
  • Familiarity with NBS Chorus or equivalent tools (a plus).

✔ Exceptional linguistic and communication abilities:

  • Clear written and verbal skills for technical/design documents and high-level stakeholder relations.

✔ Detail-oriented self-starter:

  • Ability to operate independently within agreed budgets and schedules.

✔ Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook) with database management experience.

  • Adaptability and flexibility in evolving working methods.
