About the Role
We are recruiting for experienced Senior SQL DBAs / SQL Infrastructure Engineers to join a high-profile enterprise transformation programme within a secure environment. This is an exciting opportunity to work on large-scale SQL Server infrastructure, supporting critical application transformation, technology obsolescence, and data centre migration initiatives. You will play a key role in maintaining, upgrading, and modernising enterprise SQL Server platforms while ensuring high availability, resilience, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, and optimise enterprise Microsoft SQL Server environments.
- Install, configure, and support SQL Server 2016 through to the latest supported versions.
- Deliver SQL Server upgrades, migrations, and platform modernisation projects.
- Design, implement, and support Always On Availability Groups and High Availability/Disaster Recovery (HA/DR) solutions.
- Build, deploy, and maintain SQL Server databases and infrastructure.
- Perform backup, restore, recovery, and disaster recovery activities.
- Support application migration and data centre migration programmes.
- Administer SQL Server environments hosted on VMware and virtualised platforms.
- Investigate and resolve complex database and infrastructure issues through troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- Support Incident, Change, and Problem Management processes.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and project teams to deliver enterprise-wide solutions.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Extensive experience administering enterprise Microsoft SQL Server environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with SQL Server 2016 and later versions.
- Proven expertise in:
- SQL Server Administration
- SQL Server Build, Deployment, Upgrades, and Migrations
- Always On Availability Groups
- Backup, Restore, and Recovery
- Windows Failover Clustering
- High Availability and Disaster Recovery (HA/DR)
- Performance monitoring, optimisation, and troubleshooting
- Experience supporting enterprise application migration programmes.
- Experience delivering data centre migration projects.
- Experience supporting SQL Server within VMware or other virtualised environments.
- Strong understanding of Incident, Change, and Problem Management processes.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Desirable Skills
- Experience working on enterprise infrastructure transformation programmes.
- Knowledge of SQL Server security best practices.
- Experience working within large, complex, or highly regulated environments.
- Familiarity with ITIL practices and service management.
- Microsoft SQL Server certifications or equivalent experience.
