Senior Site Reliability Engineer
The Role
We’re looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join our growing platform engineering team. You’ll play a key role in:
- Building and operating Encord’s core infrastructure.
- Ensuring our platform is performant, reliable, observable, and scalable.
- Leading efforts to scale our platform as we grow from hundreds to thousands of AI teams worldwide, managing PB-scale data.
You’ll help shape a culture of high-performance, resilient software through technical contributions, mentorship, and collaboration with multiple squads.
What You’ll Do
Performance & Capacity
- Profile and optimise large-scale data pipelines and storage/compute workloads.
- Work with teams to establish performance benchmarks and long-term scalability planning.

Collaboration
- Partner with backend and ML engineers to enhance CI/CD pipelines.
- Champion reliability best practices and review infrastructure changes.
Reliability & Availability
- Define and own SLOs/SLIs/SLA for critical services.
- Build alerting, runbooks, and incident response processes.
- Lead blameless postmortems and iterative improvement processes.
Infrastructure & Cloud
- Design, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure on GCP & AWS at scale.
- Manage Kubernetes clusters, networking, and petabyte-scale storage.
Automation & Tooling
- Improve developer productivity through automation and internal tooling.
- Guide and review automation efforts across engineering teams.
Observability
- Instrument services with metrics, logs, and distributed tracing (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Datadog or similar).
- Build observability infrastructure and best practices, ensuring observability before services hit production.
What We’re Looking For
We seek a Senior SRE or Platform Engineer with expertise in production environment work. Key qualities include:
- Hands-on experience in SRE, DevOps, or platform engineering at scale.
- Strong foundation in resilient distributed systems and high-performance architecting.
- Solid understanding of networking, OS fundamentals, and databases.
- Familiarity with observability (metrics, logs, traces, alerting systems).
- Comfortable with on-call rotations and incident management.

- Backend: Python (FastAPI, Gin), Rust
- Frontend: TypeScript, React
- Deployment: Kubernetes
- Infrastructure: GCP (GKE, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, etc.)
