Description
AvonRisk is the nation's leading specialty risk manager for self-insured organizations, uniting respected regional leaders in workers' compensation, liability, managed care, and risk management across 32 states. With nearly 700 professionals and brands including Intercare, InterMed, George Hills, and AS&G Claims Administration, we are a people-focused, operations-driven organization that prioritizes reasonable caseloads, strong training, collaborative teams, and expert support. We invest in tools and workflows that reduce friction—not increase volume—and create real career paths for professionals who want to grow. At AvonRisk, you are part of a team that values good judgment, curiosity, and accountability, and gives you the support to succeed.
Position Overview
The Senior Accountant is a key individual contributor within AvonRisk's corporate accounting and finance function, supporting a rapidly growing workers' compensation and liability third-party administrator (TPA). This role owns meaningful areas of the multi-entity month-end close, the general ledger, banking and disbursement controls, expense and vendor processing, and financial reporting, and supports the annual external audit and lender reporting. It also plays an important role in documenting and assimilating the accounting and close processes of acquired entities. This position reports to the VP of Accounting. While we prefer candidates who can work hybrid in Rocklin, CA, we can also consider remote candidates who meet the job requirements.
Responsibilities
- Own assigned areas of the multi-entity month-end close, including journal entries, accruals, and intercompany activity, delivered complete and on time.
- Prepare and review balance-sheet reconciliations; investigate and clear variances rather than carrying them forward.
- Maintain accuracy in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, including vendor setup, GL coding, and journal and cash-receipt import files.
- Administer bank activity and positive-pay files and perform account analyses with banking partners; uphold segregation-of-duties and approval controls over disbursements.
- Review and code corporate expenses, support accounts-payable workflows, and reconcile related accounts.
- Produce internal and management reporting, support liquidity and cash forecasting, and contribute to financial dashboards used by leadership.
- Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for the annual external audit and for lender and regulatory reporting.
- Document, standardize, and improve recurring accounting processes, and help bring acquired entities and new systems onto consistent close procedures.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
