About the Role
As Senior Staff Technical Program Manager for Body, Closures & Chassis, you will lead end-to-end technical execution and coordination for vehicle programs from concept through production, spanning Body, Closures (doors, mechanisms, glazing), and Chassis (suspension, subframes, tires, wheels, by-wire systems). This role demands expertise in balancing performance, cost, quality, and manufacturability while collaborating across internal teams and external partners.
Your responsibilities include establishing technical direction, bridging high-level milestones and deep technical execution, and driving solutions for complex challenges.
Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Technical Direction
- Serve as program and technical lead across Body (BIW, structures); Closures; and Chassis domains.
- Ensure cohesive engineering execution by collaborating with internal engineers and external supplier design teams.

Program & Cost Management
- Oversee BOM integrity, approve critical build processes, and drive cost and quality initiatives across the supply chain for major assemblies.
- Develop program schedules and partner with suppliers, quality, procurement, service, manufacturing, and engineering teams to resolve complex issues.

Risk & Risk Mitigation
- Identify and communicate program progress, risks, and technical challenges.
- Develop and lead proactive mitigation strategies across the organization.

Root-Cause Analysis & Issue Resolution
- Lead root-cause analysis (8D, Fishbone methodology) for critical build/design issues affecting performance, quality, and production readiness.

System Optimisation
- Influence system designs for optimal performance, cost, quality, manufacturability, and serviceability.
- Lead top-level design reviews, DFMEAs, validation programs, and mock-builds.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 12+ years of deep automotive engineering experience, with a specialization in Body, Closures, or Chassis design, and project management.
- Proficiency in:
- CATIA V5/V6 for design automation.
- PLM/BOM management tools.
- FMEA/FTA, root-cause analysis (8D or Fishbone methodologies).
- Project management tools (JIRA, Confluence, Polarion, Gantt charts, ERP, PLM, ALM).
- Experience in design for attributes such as crash, NVH, reliability, strength, and corrosion.
- Proven track record in managing complex cross-functional projects and sourcing components from external design suppliers and contract manufacturers.
- End-to-end New Product Introduction (NPI) experience.
- Strong stakeholder collaboration, from peer engineers to senior leadership and manufacturing.
- Ability to travel globally as required.

Bonus Qualifications
- Familiarity with hardware/firmware development and vehicle CAN bus/firmware integration.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: £140,000 – £168,000 per year (varies by location and level).
- Full Compensation Package: Includes Amazon RSUs, Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights, and a sign-on bonus (if applicable).
- Leveling based on experience, domain expertise, and performance.
