Overview of Role
Senior Stage Management Tutors are key members of Mountview’s Production team, primarily responsible for:
- Supporting students on production roles
- Delivering lessons in stage management
- Assessing student learning and progression
- Contributing to the delivery and development of the Stage Management curriculum

Reporting to the Heads of Stage Management Training, the post holders will:
- Realise the stage management requirements of productions, projects, and events across the academic calendar
- Ensure students receive the highest possible levels of tuition, guidance, and support
- Ensure tuition is responsive to students’ individual development and the needs of the professional creative industries
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver stage management tuition, both theoretical and practical
- Support student production teams in all aspects of live performance, including rehearsals, technical preparations, and performances
- Assess and provide feedback on student performance and progress in stage management
- Develop and refine the Stage Management curriculum, including alignment with industry standards and Mountview’s training objectives
- Work closely with industry professionals to ensure the curriculum is current and relevant
- Contribute to production administration, including scheduling, budgets, and communication
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment for student learning and development
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- Substantial experience as a professional stage manager with a strong track record in theatre, film, TV, or multimedia
- Experience of teaching stage management or supervising production teams
- Fearless problem-solving skills and adaptability to varying production environments
- A demonstrated commitment to inclusivity, equity, and accessibility in creative training
- A willingness to collaborate with diverse students and staff

Desirable Criteria
- Experience in an education and training environment
- Understanding of vocational learning frameworks and assessment tools
- Current membership of a union (e.g. Equity)
- A postgraduate qualification in Education, Drama/Performance, or a related field
- Professional network spanning multiple sectors, including education, theatre, and the commercial creative industries
Salary & Contract
- Salary: £34,871 per annum
- Contract type: Fixed-term roles until November 2026
