Senior Store Assistant - Keyholder
Senior Store Assistant (Keyholder) – Durham
Role Summary
We are seeking a Senior Store Assistant (Keyholder) to join our team in Durham, working 25 hours per week in a fast-paced, customer-focused store environment.
This is a keyholder role requiring accountability, supervision of team members, and the ability to manage early starts (from 7:00 AM) and late finishes (until 8:00 PM). Experience in handling keyholder duties and leading a team is essential.
As well as supporting world-class customer service, you’ll get involved in:
- Deliveries and warehouse tasks
- Stocking shelves
- Handling orders
- Maintaining store cleanliness

What You’ll Be Doing
You will represent Toolstation as its friendly face, offering outstanding service while also contributing to operational tasks. Key responsibilities include:
Customer Experience & Service
- Provide impeccable service: Engage with customers, answer their needs, and assist with projects—helping them find exactly what they require.
- Ask the right questions: Gain a deep understanding of customers’ projects to recommend the best products.
- Deliver results: Work efficiently during busy periods to ensure smooth operations and happy customers.
Operational Responsibilities
- Handle logistics: Manage deliveries, unpack stock, and prepare orders—get ready to wear multiple hats!
- Ensure store presentation: Keep the store clean, well-stocked, and customer-friendly.
- Boost retail sales: Promote Toolstation Club and Trade Accounts to enhance customer loyalty.

Keyholder Responsibilities
- Open/close the store: Take accountability for ensuring a secure and well-run environment daily.
- Supervise team assignments: Distribute daily tasks and provide temporary supervisory cover when needed.
