Senior Store Assistant - Keyholder

What You'll Do

Senior Store Assistant (Keyholder) – Dunstable

  • Hours: 20 hours per week
  • Contract: 3 months fixed-term
  • Location requirement: Lives locally with easy commute to the store
  • Shift requirement: Must manage early starts (7 AM) and late finishes (8 PM)

At Toolstation, our focus extends beyond today—we aim to help you grow with us. Many of our managers began on the shop floor before advancing to managing their own stores or overseeing operations.

Role Overview

This is more than just a store support role. You’ll be:

  • The welcoming friendly face of Toolstation, guiding customers to their needs
  • Hands-on with deliveries, warehouse tasks, and shelving stock
  • Working in a fast-paced, team-focussed environment with varying temperatures (indoor roles can be warm/hot in summer or chilly in winter)
  • Providing exceptional customer service while maintaining store standards
  • Supporting colleagues through supervisory cover (when required)

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

While retail experience isn’t mandatory, the role requires:

  • Previous supervisory experience (or demonstrated ability to step up) in a set-up where accountability matters.

Day-to-day duties:

  • Deliveries: Handle and manage incoming deliveries efficiently.
  • Stock and order prep: Unpack stock, restock shelves, and prepare orders expediently.
  • Customer service:
    • Initiate conversations to understand customer project needs.
    • Proactively usher customers toward Toolstation Club/Trade Accounts, explaining the benefits (competitive pricing and exclusive deals).
  • Store management (keyholder duties):
    • Open and close the store independently.
    • Assign daily tasks to team members.
    • Provide short-term supervisory support as needed.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
