Senior Store Assistant - Keyholder
What You'll Do
Senior Store Assistant (Keyholder) – Dunstable
- Hours: 20 hours per week
- Contract: 3 months fixed-term
- Location requirement: Lives locally with easy commute to the store
- Shift requirement: Must manage early starts (7 AM) and late finishes (8 PM)

Role Overview
This is more than just a store support role. You’ll be:
- The welcoming friendly face of Toolstation, guiding customers to their needs
- Hands-on with deliveries, warehouse tasks, and shelving stock
- Working in a fast-paced, team-focussed environment with varying temperatures (indoor roles can be warm/hot in summer or chilly in winter)
- Providing exceptional customer service while maintaining store standards
- Supporting colleagues through supervisory cover (when required)
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
While retail experience isn’t mandatory, the role requires:
- Previous supervisory experience (or demonstrated ability to step up) in a set-up where accountability matters.
Day-to-day duties:
- Deliveries: Handle and manage incoming deliveries efficiently.
- Stock and order prep: Unpack stock, restock shelves, and prepare orders expediently.
- Customer service:
- Initiate conversations to understand customer project needs.
- Proactively usher customers toward Toolstation Club/Trade Accounts, explaining the benefits (competitive pricing and exclusive deals).
- Store management (keyholder duties):
- Open and close the store independently.
- Assign daily tasks to team members.
- Provide short-term supervisory support as needed.
