Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Strategic Stakeholder & Events Advisor to identify, analyse and help the Environment Agency engage internal and external parties—including eNGOs, businesses, regulators, government and community groups— on the environmental outcomes we are collectively aiming to achieve, and manage our wide events portfolio, leading a small team.

We are looking for someone who is adept with data, a self-starter, has bags of experience developing stakeholder mapping and analysing it, and can use the information to guide our engagement strategies across a wide range of topics from water to waste, hydrogen to hydrogeology and much more. You will also be an inspirational and driven team leader with high standards who enjoys working with a wide range of people.

Key responsibilities are:

Identify E&B’s top stakeholders and map their interests, influence, and impact. Developing strategy to inform tailored stakeholder engagement plans and communication strategies, including horizon scanning for events. Act as the stakeholder management and events lead for colleagues who will be engaging with key partners, helping to foster collaboration and manage expectations. Proactively identify potential conflicts or risks with stakeholders and work with colleagues to find solutions. Maintain a stakeholder intelligence database ensuring accurate records are held, prepare information dashboards and ensure compliance across E&B. Plan and facilitate EA attendance at significant meetings, conferences and events, prepare briefings, gather input/intelligence and report on progress.

The team

The E&B External Affairs team is responsible for advising and influencing our directorate on building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders and organisations, strengthening our voice and influence so that our work is better known, trusted, and has greater impact.

Experience/skills Required

The ability to work under pressure, be highly organised, and handle competing demands, whilst delivering first-class communications will be essential.

You’ll have an inclusive incident management objective in your development plan. Appropriate training will be given.

You’ll have an EA Office base location, but as a national role the working location is flexible/hybrid.

We use smart tools to stay connected and reduce travel, but some travel and overnights will be required.

Applications are 'blind' assessed using your answers to the competency questions.

Interviews will be held via MS Teams at the beginning of June. If we receive a high number of applications we may sift on the first competency question.
