I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About the Role
You'll play an integral role in helping shape the future direction of aviation across MAG through data, insight and strategic analysis. Supporting the Head of Aviation Strategy & Insights, you'll work across a variety of strategic initiatives, using a wide range internal and external datasets to develop meaningful insights, build compelling business cases and identify opportunities that support the growth of our airports. You’ll analyse aviation markets, support airline growth strategies and develop executive-level presentations that are critical to the commercial aviation team’s airline engagements. You'll work with large datasets, market intelligence and industry-leading aviation tools to uncover trends, challenge assumptions and translate data into clear recommendations that influence commercial and strategic decisions across the business. Working closely with colleagues across Aviation, Commercial, Communications and Corporate Affairs teams, you'll have exposure to senior stakeholders while contributing to projects that directly support airline partnerships, route development and MAG's long-term growth ambitions.

What Will Make You Successful?
You'll be naturally analytical and curious, with the ability to turn complex information into clear insight that supports business decisions. Whether your experience comes from strategy consulting, aviation, or another analytical environment, you'll enjoy solving problems, challenging assumptions and using data to influence outcomes. You'll have experience working with large datasets and strong analytical tools, alongside excellent Power BI and Excel skills. Comfortable interpreting data from multiple sources, you'll be able to identify trends, develop meaningful recommendations and communicate your findings in a concise and engaging way. You'll also be an excellent communicator who enjoys working collaboratively across multiple teams. Comfortable managing several projects at once, you'll be organised, adaptable and confident building relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the business. Experience within aviation, airline network planning, strategy, business case development or market analysis would be advantageous, but above all we're looking for someone with a genuine passion for insight, strategic thinking and using data to solve complex business challenges.
