Senior Structural Designer – Brownfield Oil & Gas Projects
Location: Fawley Duration: 12 Months
Position Overview
This opportunity is for a Senior Structural Designer to support brownfield oil and gas project delivery in a technically demanding environment. The role requires contributions to the confirmation of structural design outputs while prioritising safe, practical, and precise execution.
Suitable candidates will demonstrate:
- Strong design coordination capability
- Survey awareness
- Experience across construction and engineering deliverables
The Senior Structural Designer will apply technical expertise across varied project activities, with a focus on quality, safety, and timely delivery.
Role Context
This position supports brownfield projects within the oil and gas sector, involving:
- Site-based execution (onshore and offshore)
- Structural design and construction-related deliverables spanning the project lifecycle
Key Responsibilities
Technical Output and Coordination
- Prepare and validate structural design deliverables for brownfield oil and gas projects
- Generate and review Construction Workpacks and Material Requisitions
- Produce structural estimates and COG (Cost of Goods) calculations
- Interpret and evaluate client specifications and Scopes of Work

Site and Survey Support
- Develop site sketches and prepare survey reports following offshore or onshore surveys
- Support model reviews and technical presentations
Design & Construction Expertise
- Apply knowledge of:
- Welded and bolted connections
- Pipe supports
- Rigging design practices and installation techniques
Safety, Organisation & Compliance
- Maintain a safety-first mindset in all structural design activities
- Deliver to scheduled deadlines while maintaining project integrity
- Work independently with initiative
- Actively pursue continuous professional development
Requirements
Essential Criteria
✔ Strong experience in brownfield oil and gas projects ✔ Working knowledge of PDMS software ✔ Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D & 3D) ✔ Experience with Navisworks ✔ Ability to prepare and check structural design deliverables and construction workpacks ✔ Specialist knowledge of:
- Welded and bolted structural connections
- Pipe support systems ✔ Ability to read and apply client specifications and Scopes of Work ✔ Availability for site travel (onshore/offshore) and survey execution ✔ Understanding of rigging design and installation ✔ Knowledge of safety principles in structural engineering ✔ Ability to operate escalate initiatives independently and meet deadlines ✔ Awareness of relevant industry regulations and legislative frameworks

Desirable Criteria
• HNC qualification or equivalent experience preferred • Proficiency in LFM software
