Senior Structural Designer

We currently have an opening for the position of Senior Structural Designer within our Projects & Engineering department based in Aberdeen.

Key Duties

The key duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the responsibilities detailed below:

  • Responsible for producing design deliverables & providing engineering support functions and Detail Design Projects, carrying out engineering Site surveys
  • Develop initial design and drawing requirements
  • Establish drawing set-up procedures applicable to the job for drafting personnel
  • Conceptualize plans, details, and sections to accurately convey construction or fabrication requirements
  • Check and back-check drawings produced by drafting personnel
  • Coordinate and analyse vendor supplied drawings and incorporate the required information into project drawings
  • Manage the design efforts and direct junior designers and CAD drafters maximizing productivity
  • Input to workpack and installation/construction methodology and manhour estimates
  • Work according to OTL P&E procedures, customer requirements and relevant rules and regulations
  • Maintain contemporary technical competency

Requirements

The successful candidate will preferably have some or all of the following:

  • HNC with 5 years supplementary experience. Demonstrated experience may compensate for lack of theoretical education.
  • Proficient in current release of AutoCAD, MicroStation, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel
  • Thorough understanding and efficiency with standard design and drafting practices.
  • Expertise in structural design practices for the oil and gas industry, including process plants, and other heavy industries.
  • Experience of Brownfield modification scopes within a Drilling facilities environment
  • E3D experience would be advantageous
  • Offshore certification (BOSIET, MIST etc)
