Location: Manchester | Hybrid Working Available

The Opportunity

Our client is a growing multidisciplinary engineering consultancy delivering major infrastructure projects across the UK water sector. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit experienced Senior Structural Engineers, Principal Structural Engineers and Structural Discipline Leads to join their expanding team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a structurally biased engineer with water industry experience to take ownership of engineering design, deliver innovative solutions and, at Principal level, provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary projects.

Whether you're looking to progress into a Principal role or already have experience leading a discipline, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality engineering solutions while helping to shape the future of structural engineering across multiple water industry frameworks.

The Role

As a Senior or Principal Structural Engineer, you'll be responsible for delivering safe, efficient and buildable structural designs across clean water and wastewater projects, working closely with Civil, Mechanical and Electrical engineers to provide integrated engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of structural engineering design packages across water and wastewater projects.
  • Produce high-quality design calculations, drawings, technical reports, specifications and Design Risk Assessments (DRAs).
  • Develop practical, efficient and buildable engineering solutions based on client requirements and site constraints.
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant standards, regulations, company procedures and water company specifications.
  • Carry out structural design activities while ensuring safety, quality and programme objectives are achieved.
  • Manage and record design changes throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare scopes of work and review outputs from subcontract design teams where required.
  • Liaise with equipment suppliers, manufacturers and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Estimate design hours and support project planning and resource allocation.
  • Attend and present at client meetings, design reviews and technical workshops.
  • Mentor and support Graduate Engineers, Engineers and CAD Technicians, encouraging their technical development.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
