Senior Structural Engineer
Chartered Senior Structural Engineer – Civil & Structural Forensic Team
About the Role
HKA is a leading global consultancy in risk mitigation, dispute resolution, expert witness, and litigation support. We specialise in anticipating, investigating, and resolving complex challenges through multi-disciplinary expertise. As trusted independent consultants, experts, and advisors, we deliver solutions in high-uncertainty environments—helping public and private sector clients globally achieve the best possible outcomes.
Our team serves as Forensic Technical Services (FTS) experts, with extensive experience across some of the world’s largest quantum, delay, engineering, and commercial damages disputes. As part of this evolving practice, we seek a technically accomplished Chartered Senior Structural Engineer to join our growing Civil & Structural team in London.
This opportunity appeals to engineers passionate about structural analysis, detailed technical work, and forensic consultancy. Whether you’re transitioning into this field or seeking to progress within an established market-leading firm, this role offers the chance to develop expertise in forensic structural engineering, collaborate with industry leaders, and contribute to high-impact disputes.

- Collaborate in a fast-growing, inclusive culture focused on expanding and professionalising our FTS practice.
- Engage with leading experts in forensic disputes, seeking mentorship and exposure to complex, internationally recognised projects.
- Work flexibly—projects originate from UK and international clients, supported from London with travel flexibility (desirable but not essential).
Located in the global disputes hub of London, our team is complex, challenging, and dynamic, demanding:
- Tenacious attention to detail and the ability to think beyond conventional standards.
- A blend of curiosity, creativity, and confidence in unconventional solutions.
- Capacity to adapt to diverse legal contexts and multi-disciplinary collaboration.
Though prior forensic experience is advantageous, we provide comprehensive training—critical analytical skills are emphasized over pedigree.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
