We currently have an opening for the position of Senior Structural Engineer within our Projects & Engineering department based in Aberdeen.

Key Duties

  • Undertake safe, cost effective, and timely execution of structural engineering design activities on Brownfield projects run from the Odfjell Technology (UK) Aberdeen facility.
  • Responsible for design, vendor selection, and the outsourcing of fabrication of secondary and tertiary structural deliverables for multi and single discipline drilling rig modification packages.
  • Assist in the production of cost estimates and schedules.
  • Develop Scope of Work and Basis of Design documents as required to match project and client requirements; provide proof by calculation as required; ensure the design criteria are met with reference to the relevant codes & standards.
  • Assist in risk assessments and HAZIDS/HAZOP studies as required by the project(s).
  • Support the installation team to ensure the successful handover of the Project to client/Drilling Operations.

Design and/or Technical Authority

  • Preparation and delivery of periodical reviews for new personnel.
  • Ability to perform theoretical analyses and calculations.
  • Ability to design structural assemblies and supports.
  • Ability to perform Factory Acceptance Tests.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to professional standards, recognizing obligations to society, the profession, and the environment.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills through written and verbal communications.
  • Provide technical and commercial leadership.
  • Use a combination of general and specialist engineering knowledge and understanding to optimize the application of existing and emerging technology.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in relevant Technical discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Current valid offshore medical & survival (BOSIET), plus Minimum Industry Standards Training (M.I.S.T.) for travel to offshore installations in UK waters.
  • Demonstrate understanding of changes to codes, standards, and working practices through membership of IStrucE or a similar organization.
  • Leadership experience in a technical environment.
  • Experience with offshore brownfield projects.
  • Experienced in engineering standards, rules, and regulations for offshore facilities.
  • Should be fully conversant with applicable UKCS engineering legislation.
  • Experience with Asset integrity projects would be advantageous.
  • Experience with brownfield modification projects within Drilling Facilities would be advantageous.
  • 3D Competence (PDMS).
  • AutoCAD.
  • Mathcad.
  • 2D sketches.
