Senior Structural Engineer

The Opportunity
Bristol Structures is a thriving team within Arup's Property, Science & Industry (PSI) portfolio. Our well-established Structural team of ~40 people is based in our centrally located office, along with ~475 colleagues of other disciplines. Our friendly team are busy delivering a diverse range of projects for key local and national clients. Current projects include highly sustainable hospital buildings, national infrastructure and sensitive refurbishments of heritage cultural assets. We have an opportunity for a motivated Structural Engineer who is seeking technically challenging work on cutting-edge projects to join our established team in Bristol. You will work within a multi-disciplinary environment and have the opportunity contribute to projects in every sector of the built environment - locally, nationally, and internationally.

The Role Will See You
- Combining engineering knowledge and digital skills to produce efficient designs
- Coordinating with clients, architects, MEP engineers and other technical specialists
- Collaborating with other members of the structural team to produce drawings, specifications and other deliverables to a high quality, on time and to budget.
- Working with the project manager to plan and deliver the work.
- Working with Revit technicians to develop 3D models and drawings.
- Supervising and aiding the development of apprentices and graduates
Is this role right for you?
We’re Looking For Candidates Who
- Have a BEng or MEng degree (MEng preferred) or equivalent, in a relevant structural/civil engineering discipline
- Are looking to soon become or are recently chartered through the ICE or IStructE
- Have detailed experience in structural Eurocode design of concrete and/or steel framed buildings. Some experience of timber and masonry design would also be useful.
- Have experience and/or a desire to learn about structural refurbishment / repurposing of existing buildings.
- Demonstrate an ability to communicate through sketching, drawing, presentations and report writing
- Are committed to sustainable development. Experience of undertaking embodied carbon assessment would be useful.
