Waterman Building Structures busy Bristol office is seeking to recruit a near Chartered or Chartered Engineer to the position of Senior Structural Engineer.

Working as part of an established and collaborative Structures team, you will play a key role in the design, inspection, and assessment of a wide range of structural materials and forms across multiple sectors. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious engineer looking to take on greater responsibility, develop client-facing skills, and progress their career within a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver structural design, inspection, and assessment work across a variety of projects
  • Work across multiple sectors including Retail, Industrial, Residential, Telecommunications, Technology, and Leisure
  • Take responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of projects, ensuring quality, budget, and programme targets are achieved
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, and internal teams to develop effective and innovative solutions
  • Prepare and review calculations, drawings, and technical reports
  • Support and mentor junior engineers and technicians
  • Contribute to project planning, resource allocation, and financial management

About You

  • Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Near Chartered or Chartered (ICE or IStructE)
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in a structural engineering consultancy
  • Experience in the design, inspection, and assessment of a variety of structural materials and forms
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and clients effectively
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving
  • Ambition to develop leadership, client-facing, and project management skills

With mentoring from the Regional Director, you will quickly develop your time management and client-facing capabilities while taking increasing responsibility for project delivery. You will also gain exposure to team management, mentoring of junior staff, and financial aspects of project and team performance.
