Senior Structural Engineer

Location: Bristol
This is an outstanding opportunity to work with this ambitious multi-disciplinary consultancy at Senior Engineer Level. Working on diverse and exciting projects within commercial, retail, leisure, rail and residential developments, including high rise and prestigious landmark buildings. As well as undertaking your day to day role, you will also be encouraged to contribute to the business and play a part in the future growth of the Group.

Main Duties
- Preparation and checking of structural engineering designs and drawings, specifications, reports and general correspondence.
- Liaise & communicate with external professionals and clients.
- Represent JNP Group at meetings and in writing, when required, and attend site to undertake surveys and inspections.
- Control the programmed performance of projects.
- Brief and supervise Graduate Engineers.
- Brief and supervise Technicians on the production of drawings.
- Preparation of structural reports on buildings and other structures.
Technical Skills
- Ability to design structural members in structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and timber.
- Clear understanding of UK Building Regulations and codes of practice.
- Familiarity with proprietary design software such as Tekla Structural Designer, S-Frame, TEDDS, SCIA and CADS.
- Knowledge of the Site Investigation process.
- Use of Microsoft Office and other administration software.
Education & Learning Experience
- In order to meet our expectations, you will need to be a degree qualified Engineer, aspiring to or working towards Incorporated or Chartered Membership of either the Institution of Structural Engineers or Institution of Civil Engineers.
- You will also need to demonstrate that you are capable of managing and leading.
- Have experience of working on a variety of projects.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience of contract negotiation.
- A commercial understanding of fee management.
- Ensure client satisfaction at all stages of the design process.
- Assist with new business opportunities as well as maintaining existing client base.
- Contribute to Group activities.
- As well as a good team player, you will also need to have enthusiasm, drive and determination to meet the demands of a position at this level.

- Ability to demonstrate proven ability to communicate fluently in English and produce concise, grammatically correct reports.

Competencies
- Excellent communication skills and command of the English Language, both written and verbal, particularly with regard to the production of concise accurate and technically correct reports.
- Ability to manage own work scale within agreed fiscal and time scales.
- Ability to contribute to the workload management of engineers and technicians.
