Senior Structural Engineer: Norwich

An established, employee-owned construction consultancy is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join its Norwich office. The practice delivers structural engineering, civil engineering, and building surveying services across the UK and internationally, working on projects ranging from commercial and industrial developments to education, leisure, defence, and heritage buildings.

The Role Of Senior Structural Engineer
This is a full-time, office-based position within the structural engineering team, offering the opportunity to take a leading technical role on a wide variety of projects.
The successful candidate will lead structural design projects from concept through to completion, delivering innovative, practical, and buildable engineering solutions while working closely with clients, contractors, architects, and multidisciplinary design teams.

Key Responsibilities Of This Senior Structural Engineer Role
- Lead structural engineering projects and produce high-quality calculations, designs, and technical drawings.
- Review and oversee the work of engineers and technicians.
- Coordinate with clients, architects, contractors, and other design disciplines.
- Manage project programmes, resources, and financial performance.
- Carry out site inspections, technical reviews, and provide construction-stage support.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers.
- Ensure designs comply with current standards, regulations, and best practice.
This position is well suited to an experienced engineer who enjoys technical leadership, mentoring others, and contributing to the success of a growing consultancy.
About You
You will be a motivated and technically capable structural engineer with the confidence to lead projects and work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
Essential Skills And Experience
- Demonstrable experience leading and delivering structural engineering projects.
- Strong structural analysis and design capabilities with a sound understanding of current UK design codes and standards.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Proficiency in structural design software such as SCIA, MasterSeries, TEDDS, CADS, or equivalent.
- Degree qualified in Structural or Civil Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng), or actively working towards chartership.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers and managing multiple projects and deadlines.

Desirable
- Knowledge of structural interfaces with civil engineering and infrastructure works.
- Familiarity with UK Building Regulations, CDM Regulations, the Building Safety Act, and sustainable design principles.
