Morgan Hunt are working with a consultancy in Edinburgh who are looking to add a Senior Structural Design Engineer to their growing team. You will get the chance to deliver high-quality engineering solutions across a diverse range of sectors, including commercial, residential, infrastructure, energy, and industrial projects. This role offers the opportunity to take technical ownership of complex designs, contribute to innovative and sustainable solutions, and support the growth of a dynamic engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the structural design and analysis of projects using steel, concrete, timber, and masonry
- Prepare and review detailed calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports
- Manage and coordinate design activities within multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated and efficient delivery
- Ensure designs comply with UK standards, Eurocodes, and project-specific requirements
- Undertake design checks and peer reviews, including oversight of subcontractor and third-party designs
- Provide technical guidance and leadership on projects from concept through to construction
- Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians
- Contribute to innovation, value engineering, and sustainable design approaches

Requirements
- Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (or related discipline)
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, or actively working towards chartership (e.g., with ICE or IStructE)
- Strong experience in structural design within a consultancy environment
- Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (Tekla Structural Designer, Robot, ETABS, or similar)
- Solid understanding of Eurocodes and UK design standards
- Experience working across multiple sectors and on a variety of project scales
- Strong communication, organisational, and leadership skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work to deadlines
