Egis: Senior Structural Engineer (Nuclear New Build) – Job Role
Egis is a leading global architectural, consulting, construction engineering, operations and mobility services firm dedicated to creating and operating intelligent infrastructure that addresses the climate emergency. With over 20,500 employees operating across 100+ countries, we specialise in iconic projects in the UK—such as motorways, tramways, nuclear power plants, and smart cities—helping our clients achieve their emission reduction targets while delivering climate-responsible growth.
About the Role
We’re hiring full-time Senior Structural Engineers to join our UK team, focusing on Nuclear Island buildings for projects like Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C, and similar Nuclear New Builds. As a Senior Structural Engineer, you’ll reinforce your skills while working on some of the most complex buildings in a Nuclear Power Plant, collaborating in a multi-cultural environment to deliver exceptional results for our global clients.
Your role will be critical—ensuring the safety, integrity, and reliability of nuclear structures. You’ll lead an international team, oversee design and structural analysis, and contribute to reinforced concrete and steel construction.

-
Team Leadership and Project Delivery
- Manage and lead an international team responsible for critical Nuclear Island buildings.
- Oversee design and structural analysis for reinforced concrete and steel structures in EPR nuclear power plants.
-

- Ensure compliance with Eurocode, ETC-C, and other nuclear safety standards.
- Assess structural integrity under seismic, dynamic, and environmental loads, including temporary construction impacts.
- Evaluate design changes, conduct modifications, and ensure structural resilience.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
