At Babcock, we’re advancing global safety and security. As a Senior Structures Engineer, you’d help support the Royal Navy Submarine Fleet, delivering cutting-edge structural solutions on high-priority defence projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of technical capabilities within the Structures team.
- Provide technical oversight, directing outputs, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and managing complex activities.
- Work on diverse projects including:
- Structural assessments (hand calculations + finite element analysis).
- Explosive shock survivability design and defect management.
- System upgrades and future platform engineering.

This role combines hybrid flexibility (2 days in-office, 3 days remote) with opportunity to grow within a nationally critical sector.
Essential Experience
✅ Proven expertise in structural analysis/design. ✅ Strong project management and cross-team communication skills. ✅ Ability to navigate complex high-pressure environments reliably. ✅ Collaborative mindset with influence at all organisational levels.
Qualifications
- Degree in a STEM discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (e.g., IStructE / ICE) or clear path to full membership of a relevant engineering institute.
Security Requirements
- UK national only, able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance.
