Senior Student Disability Adviser

Senior Student Disability Adviser – £47,951 pa (incl. HCAS)

About the Role

We are seeking a reflective and empathetic Senior Student Disability Adviser to join our Student Support and Engagement Team at Tavistock Education and Training, part of North London NHS Foundation Trust.

Essential Criteria

You will have:

  • significant experience in disability support within an education setting
  • excellent interpersonal skills and deep understanding of the Equality Act while adhering to the social model of disability
  • expertise in assessing barriers, needs, and recommending proportionate support for neurodivergences, mental health conditions, sensory impairments, and other disabilities
  • strong organisational and process management skills, given the team’s high volume of complex cases

About Us

Tavistock Education and Training (based at the Tavistock Centre, Swiss Cottage) delivers postgraduate and other training programmes in adult/child mental health, social work, educational psychology, and leadership, with courses validated by the University of Essex. We currently support around 1,450 students, including 400 registered with our Disability Team, and are the only NHS Trust independently registered with the OfS.

Our work is embedded in the wider North London NHS Foundation Trust, a leading mental health organisation with multiple sites across Haringey, Enfield, Barnet, Camden/Islington, and the Tavistock Centre.


Job Summary

As a Senior Student Disability Adviser, you will:

  • Provide high-quality advice and reasonable adjustment services to comply with the Equality Act 2010.
  • Support disabled students and staff with diverse needs (e.g., mental health conditions, sensory impairments, SLDs, long-term health conditions).
  • Collaborate across student support services to create an inclusive learning environment.
  • Develop policies, training, and technical solutions (e.g., Assistive Technology).
  • Progress the Trust’s disability strategic plan, including the Disabled Students Commitment.
  • Manage a caseload of students, tailoring individual adjustments and removing barriers.

Key Duties

  • Build relationships with stakeholders (students, staff, external partners).
  • Offer personalised advice on disability Accessibility and reasonable adjustments.
  • Improve student support processes and services.
  • Deliver training (internal seminars, best practices).
  • Engage in ongoing professional development & best practice updates.
