About the Role

An initial 12-month contract opportunity has opened for a Senior Subsea Structures & Tie-In Engineer to support global deepwater offshore projects. This role will focus on all engineering activities for subsea structures and tie-in systems, spanning from feasibility stages through Basic/FEED and longer-term execution phases for current and upcoming company initiatives. Remote working is accommodated, and this role is outside IR35.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead subsea structure and tie-in projects across all phases (Feasibility, Conceptual Study, Front End Engineering Design, Tendering, Engineering, Procurement, Fabrication, Testing, Installation, Commissioning).
  • Ensure cost, risk, and regulatory compliance in designs while adhering to project requirements, international codes, and internal standards.
  • Create technical documentation (concept studies, FEED packages, tender/contract packages).
  • Oversee supplier calls for tender, including qualification assessments, clarifications, and recommendations for selection.
  • Review and approve FEED, tender, and detailed engineering deliverables from contractors.
  • Act as the Company Representative during:
    • Offshore operations (installation, commissioning, start-up).
    • Fabrication, testing, and load-out activities for subsea structures and tie-ins.
  • Ensure awareness and application of design standards, internal HSEQ policies, and engineering best practices.
  • Collaborate with Subsea Systems and cross-disciplinary teams for seamless project execution.

Core Responsibilities

The Senior Subsea Structures & Tie-In Engineer will be expected to:

  • Design and validate Manifolds (PLEMs), PLETs/ILTs, PLRs, and tie-in systems from Preliminary Engineering through Detailed Design.
  • Apply knowledge of subsea interfaces for installation and environmental conditions.
  • Conduct Design & Safety Reviews, HAZOP, HAZIDs, and risk assessments.
  • Supervise Supplier/Contractor equipment and deliverable validation.
  • Provide technical leadership for onsite testing phases (FAT, SIT, pre-commissioning/start-up).
  • Uphold compliance with international codes, standards (•e.E. DNVGL-ST-N-010), and Punctual Standards for SESAM/SACS.
  • Lead internal standards alignment and HSEQ policy adherence.

Key Requirements

Experience & Expertise

  • Proven senior subsea engineer experience in Manifolds, PLEMs, and tie-in systems across design & engineering lifecycle (concept through execution).
  • Familiarity with:
    • Structural, installation, and operational interfaces.
    • Finite Element Analysis (FEA): FSYSAM (offshore), SFACS, Ansys, Abaqus, COSMOSWorks.
    • Design safety studies (HAZOP/HAZID) and risk assessments.
    • Procurement, quality assurance, and Contractor vendor management.
  • Must have hands-on offshore/onsite testing monitoring experience (FAT, SIT, start-up activities).
  • Extensive 10+ years in Oil & Gas subsea structures, tie-ins, or marine renewable spur engineering.
  • Strong command of applicable codes (e.q. DNVGL-ST-P205/OS-J101, API-Istabs considerations.
  • Experience transitioning learnings between Contractor and On-Site Operations Roles a plus.

Education & Technical Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/ Structural/ Civil Engineering (or closely related subsea engineering discipline).
  • Premiere qualifications in subsea design standards, fatigue analysis, hydroelasticity, and offshore structural system dynamics.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and engineering analysis software.

Code Compliance & Compliance-Focused Leadership

  • Participate in structured compliance assessments covering risk, cost, and technical alignment.
  • Demonstrate capability to lead indicters conformance between Shop/first-offshore phases.
